How It Works

The Process

Applying for a medical marijuana card can be a cumbersome process but with Compassionate Alternative Care we make it simple so that you can get the care you need as fast as possible. See our list of simple steps below.

  1. Verify your condition and submit your medical record release form online.
  2. Upon receipt and verification of your records our team will reach out to you and schedule an appointment with our physician with 24 hours.
  3. Our physician will confirm that marijuana is the proper treatment for your condition and certify your card in the Medical Marijuana Use Registry.
  4. The same day you work with our team to electronically submit your application, passport photo and fee to the state.
  5. Upon approval by the state you will receive a temporary ID card via e-mail that can used in place of your physical card while it is in the mail.

Eligible Conditions

The State of Florida recognizes a specific list of conditions that warrant the use of medical marijuana, before applying please confirm that you have been diagnosed with one of the conditions in the list below.

  • Cancer
  • Epilepsy
  • Glaucoma
  • Positive status for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)
  • Acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS)
  • Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
  • Crohn’s Disease
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
  • Chronic pain
  • Other Terminal Conditions
  • Other medical conditions with similar symptoms to those listed above

Q: How do I get started?

A: You verify that you have a an approved condition or symptoms similar to an approved condition, and then submit your medical record release form.

Q: How long will it take to get my card?

A: Typical turnaround from the time you schedule your appointment with us to receiving your physical card is 3-4 weeks.

Q: Do I have to see a doctor?

A: You need to have your physician diagnose the original ailment and then you will see our in-house physician.

Q: Do I get my medication from you?

A: No, we simply certify you to use medical marijuana with the State of Florida. See our partners page for a list of dispensary options.

Q: What is the total cost?

A: There is a $250 fee to see the doctor, get certified and get assistance with the application. Last but not least there is a $75 fee charged by the State of Florida to process your application.
